This painting was inspired by Native American Headdresses. It is painted on raw canvas and hangs from two decorative sticks. It was completed in acrylic paint.
The size of this painting is 35in x 25in and hangs from twine rope. There is extra twine left so that adjustment can be made for the space you wish to hang it. Just cut off access when it is set where you would like.
The inspiration behind this painting came from my study of headdresses and the meaning of the Native American Headdress. Originally it was a great honor to have a headdress, because each feather in the headdress represented either an act of courage in battle or something done for the tribe that was to benefit the tribe. The Headdress later became a symbol of Native American culture due to traveling entertainment and then Hollywood.
My journey and study of the headdress is one of a spiritual nature. It is my desire to build my own headdress through the discovery or feathers on my own life's journey or through gifts freely and lovingly given. In this way I feel that my journey is being honored and I am being blessed with the opportunity to create my very own Headdress. This painting is one of several study paintings I have created and will continue to create.
